Amandelbrood

"Almond bread"

Originates from the area surrounding Veurne / Brussel. This crispy almond & dark sugar buiscuit dates back to 1886 & is closely related to Speculoos. It can be made with a variety of spices or plain. This biscuit is quite special as the dough takes 12 hours to rest in a cool spot before being sliced & baked.

Luikse Wafels

Often known as a sugar waffle, these little treats are the denser cousin of the Brussel waffle, as this dough contains yeast. They date back to the 18th century and are studded with little lumps of sugar. These are a popular lunchbox treat and are great for dipping in coffee. They are best enjoyed lukewarm.
